Oleander & The New York Academy of Art's Tribeca Ball 2013
For all those who have studied fine arts or admired the talent of artists with envy, a chance to cross paths with such talent in the flesh might seem a bit surreal. I was fortunate enough to enjoy one such surreal moment this past Monday.
In the midst of gearing up for a number of weddings, I was honored by one amazing invitation...
A request to assist at The New York Academy of Art's Annual Tribeca Ball!
Founded in 1982 by artists, scholars and patrons of the arts, including Andy Warhol, The New York Academy of Art has developed into one of the nation's leading graduate schools of fine arts. Each year it opens its doors to this same group to benefit both the artists in residence and recognize the contributions of its patrons.
This year's astrology inspired theme: "Believe in Luck"
Presented by Van Cleef & Arpels, honoring renowned American Writer Bob Colacello, the night's extensive guest list include talents from both the fashion and art worlds. Eileen Guggenheim, Contemporary Artists Cindy Sherman, Dustin Yellin, Francesco Clemente, and Andres Serrano, Designers Diane von Furstenberg and Carolina Herrera, Harper's Bazaar Editor Glenda Bailey, and patrons Joan Rivers, Matt Lauer, Julianna Margulies, Chelsea Handler, Padma Lakshmi and others enjoyed previews of the artists' work. Menu created by celebrated chef Daniel Boulud.
Creatively directed by Anne Landy of AO Production, some additional talent was needed behind the scenes to complete the Ball's floral decor. I was asked and, of course, I jumped at the chance!
It was one incredible day and a coup for Oleander. I will never look at clover quite the same again. Thanks so much to Anne for the invitation!
