A Dramatic Twist on a Halloween Bridal Bouquet: featuring the other-worldly King and White Mink Protea, velvety Chocolate Cosmos, Red Kangaroo Paw, and an assortment of luxurious, humanely gathered Peacock and Pheasant Feathers, wrapped with a silk shantung and pewter vintage brooch.

Inspired by Halloween, we chose to highlight The Black Bass Hotel, a 250 year old Bucks County Wedding Venue with a dramatic, somewhat unusual history, similar to the mood of the bridal bouquet we created for the shoot.  Some have said this place is haunted by the ghosts of travelers, the old innkeeper's Jack Russells, or the souls of British soldiers.  But in truth,  those days have long passed.

Today, the venue remains home to both folklore and oddities  including a pewter bar and absinthe water fountain from the famed Maxim’s of Paris, vintage china representing the history of the English monarchy, and a worn wood makeshift "autopsy" table which assisted doctors as they faced the spread of a mysterious illness during the construction of the Delaware River Canal.

The inn even boosts a pet cemetery (shown above), established by the previous, somewhat eccentric innkeeper.  Yes, one of his Jack Russell's was named Hansel Extra Wicked.

But don't let this slightly dark twist on this venue's history scare you away.  It is Halloween after all...

In truth, The Black Bass is among Bucks County's greatest treasures. It's location in the quaint village of Lumberville, PA, set on the banks of the Delaware River, is a truly inviting setting for a smaller, intimate wedding or event.  The Inn offers both outdoor and indoor ceremony and reception locations, along with meticulously appointed suites overlooking the Delaware to offer your guests.  The perfect end to an event weekend: The Sunday Gourmet Champagne Brunch.

Thanks so much to Mara for her incredibly warm welcome and venue tour.  I can't wait to visit again!
